Privacy Policy

We collect information you provide directly to Ownwrk and information necessary to operate the service.

This may include:

• Your name and email address.
• Information associated with your account and authentication.
• Work history and role information.
• Impact entries, Recognition entries, notes, descriptions, dates, attachments, and other information you choose to add.
• Information you choose to include in your resume, Overview, Shareable Page, or other Ownwrk features.
• Images, screenshots, documents, or other files you upload.
• Information you provide when contacting support.
• Technical information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

You decide what career information you add to Ownwrk.

If you purchase a subscription, we also receive limited information relating to your subscription and payment status, such as your plan, billing interval, Stripe customer or subscription identifiers, payment status, and transaction information.

We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Payment card information is handled by Stripe.

We use your information to:

• Create, authenticate, and maintain your account.
• Store and organize the information you add to Ownwrk.
• Provide Ownwrk's product features.
• Generate and maintain your career record.
• Allow you to create and manage information you choose to share.
• Provide customer support.
• Protect Ownwrk, prevent misuse, and maintain security.
• Troubleshoot and improve the reliability and performance of the service.
• Comply with applicable legal obligations.
• Administer paid subscriptions, confirm payment status, provide access to paid features, manage renewals and cancellations, and maintain appropriate transaction records.

Some Ownwrk features use artificial intelligence to organize, summarize, or generate information from your career record. This processing may occur automatically as your information changes and does not always require you to make a separate AI request.

You retain ownership of the information and content you add to Ownwrk.

Using Ownwrk does not transfer ownership of your career information to us.

You give us permission to process, store, display, and transmit your information only as necessary to operate Ownwrk, provide the features you use, maintain the service, and fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not sell your career information to advertisers.

Ownwrk uses AI for specific features within the product.

These currently include generating and updating your Overview, identifying themes in your career information, creating certain summaries within your resume or work history, and updating certain resume or role-based summaries as the information in your record changes.

Because these features are part of how Ownwrk organizes and summarizes your record, AI processing may happen automatically after you add, edit, or remove relevant information. You may not receive a separate prompt each time this processing occurs.

To provide these features, relevant portions of the information in your Ownwrk account may be securely transmitted to OpenAI for processing.

Depending on the feature, this may include relevant Impact entries, Recognition entries, work history, role information, and other career information needed to generate the applicable result.

We use OpenAI's API services. OpenAI states that data submitted through its API is not used to train or improve its models by default unless an API customer explicitly opts in to data sharing.

Ownwrk does not use your private career content to train its own general-purpose AI models.

AI-generated information may contain errors, omissions, or interpretations that do not accurately reflect your experience. You should review generated information before relying on or sharing it.

AI is used to assist with organizing and summarizing information you provide. It does not determine your employment eligibility, make hiring decisions, evaluate you on behalf of an employer, or independently make decisions about your career.

Ownwrk uses Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication to create and authenticate accounts.

When you sign in with Google, we receive the account information necessary to identify and authenticate you, such as your name, email address, and account identifier.

We do not receive your Google password.

Using Google to sign in to Ownwrk does not give Ownwrk access to your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, or other Google services unless a separate feature explicitly asks you to authorize that access.

Ownwrk is a paid subscription service offering monthly and yearly plans.

Payments are processed by Stripe.

When you subscribe, payment information is provided directly to Stripe and is handled according to Stripe's privacy and security practices.

Ownwrk does not store your complete credit or debit card information.

Stripe may provide us with information necessary to operate your subscription, including your customer identifier, subscription status, plan, billing period, transaction status, and related billing information.

We use this information to provide paid access, administer your subscription, process changes or cancellations, respond to billing questions, prevent fraud, and maintain records where required for accounting, tax, legal, or regulatory purposes.

We use third-party providers to operate Ownwrk.

Depending on the service being provided, these companies may process information on our behalf.

Our primary providers include:

• Google Firebase for authentication and related application services.
• Stripe for subscription and payment processing.
• OpenAI for the AI-powered processing described in this Privacy Policy.
• Infrastructure and hosting providers used to operate and secure Ownwrk.

These providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions in which they or their service providers operate.

When information is processed outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is processed and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, or government authorities in accordance with those laws.

We limit the information provided to service providers to what is reasonably necessary for them to provide their services to us.

Your Ownwrk account and career information are private by default.

Information does not become publicly available simply because you add it to Ownwrk.

Where Ownwrk provides sharing features, you decide what information you make available through those features.

If you create a Shareable Page or otherwise choose to share information, the information you select may be accessible to people with whom you share it.

Where password protection or other privacy controls are available, you are responsible for choosing how you configure them and who receives access.

You can stop sharing information using the controls available within Ownwrk.

Ownwrk may use cookies, local browser storage, and similar technologies that are necessary to operate the service.

These may be used for functions such as authentication, maintaining sessions, remembering necessary settings, security, and supporting features you choose to use.

We do not currently use Google Analytics.

We do not currently use advertising trackers to build advertising profiles from your activity in Ownwrk.

Your browser may allow you to block or remove cookies or local storage. Disabling technologies that are necessary for authentication or core product functionality may prevent parts of Ownwrk from working correctly.

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Ownwrk, fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, meet legitimate operational requirements, and satisfy legal, accounting, tax, security, or regulatory obligations.

You may request deletion of your Ownwrk account through the account controls provided in the service.

Account deletion is different from cancelling a subscription.

Cancelling a subscription stops future subscription renewal according to the applicable subscription terms but does not, by itself, mean that you have requested deletion of your Ownwrk account or career record.

When an account is deleted, we take steps to remove or de-identify personal information that we no longer need, subject to technical limitations and information we are permitted or required to retain.

Some information may remain for a limited period in backups, system logs, security records, or systems operated by our service providers before being deleted through their normal retention processes.

We may retain limited billing and transaction information after account deletion where necessary for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legal obligations.

This does not mean we retain your career content for those purposes.

You may review and update much of your information directly within Ownwrk.

Where available, you may also export information from your account.

You may contact us to:

• Request access to personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Ask questions about our privacy practices.
• Make a privacy complaint.
• Request deletion where applicable.

You may withdraw consent to processing where consent is the applicable basis for that processing, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.

Depending on what processing you withdraw consent from, we may no longer be able to provide some or all of Ownwrk's functionality.

We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request involving personal information.

We will respond to privacy requests within the time required by applicable law.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or loss.

No online service or method of electronic storage can guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of the Google account you use to access Ownwrk and for taking reasonable precautions when sharing links or information from your account.

Ownwrk is designed as a professional career-record service and is not directed to children.

Ownwrk should not be used by anyone under the age of 13.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in circumstances where valid consent was required and was not obtained, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Ownwrk changes.

If we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.

If a change materially affects how we collect, use, or disclose personal information, we will provide additional notice where appropriate and obtain consent where required by applicable law.

Using Ownwrk after an ordinary update to this Privacy Policy does not override any consent requirement imposed by applicable privacy law.

Ownwrk is operated by Wemaiq Inc., a corporation incorporated under the laws of Canada.
